The PSDW General Fund is our area of greatest need, serving as the heartbeat of our organization. Your contributions directly support our public performances, provide our musicians with rehearsal space, and ensure our instruments are properly maintained. While our dedicated members pay annual dues, these fees aren't enough to sustain our vision. By supporting this fund, you are helping us keep the music alive and thriving in our community.
Support Band Operations, Concerts, & Equiptment
At Palm Springs Desert Winds, we believe in supporting local talent from the classroom to the concert hall. Our scholarship program helps Coachella Valley high school graduates follow their dreams of becoming music educators. Since the program began 13 years ago, we have awarded a remarkable $69,500 to deserving students, many of whom have returned home to teach music right here in the valley. [1, 2]
Beyond scholarships, we bring professional expertise directly to local schools. Each year, our Artistic Director and a Guest Composer visit middle and high school bands to lead hands-on workshops. Students have the unique opportunity to play a composer's music under their guidance and ask questions about the life of a professional musician. This popular program reached 10 bands last year, and your support ensures we can keep this musical mentorship thriving.

The Palm Springs Desert Winds is proud to be a member of the Pride Bands Alliance, committed to promoting LGBTQ+ visibility through the arts. We invite you to support our efforts to perform and commission new music from LGBTQ+ artists. Your gift directly funds the licensing, rehearsals, and performances of works that celebrate queer themes, ensuring our concerts remain a vibrant reflection of our diverse membership and audience
